Visit to Leonhard Lang Medizintechnik - exchange as part of the SPÖ women's summer tour

On August 28, we welcomed a delegation to Leonhard Lang Medizintechnik in Innsbruck as part of the SPÖ women's summer tour. Among the visitors were Eva-Maria Holzleitner (Federal Minister for Research, Science and Women and Federal Women's Chairwoman of the SPÖ), Selma Yildirim (National Councillor and Provincial Women's Chairwoman of the SPÖ Tyrol), Elisabeth Fleischanderl (Club Chairwoman and Deputy Provincial Women's Chairwoman), Ruth Manninger (Federal Women's Director), as well as Claudia Hagsteiner and Daniela Meichtry (members of the provincial parliament).

The group was welcomed by our COO Klaus Draxl and the division heads CSO Bettina Sarlay, Deputy COO Louis Andres and CFO Hannes Quantschnig.

Insights into our everyday life - and into our future

‍Aftera brief round of introductions, we presented our company, our history and our strategic direction in the field of medical technology. We then gave our guests a tour of key areas of our site in Innsbruck - including production, our research and development department and parts of logistics.

We were particularly pleased with the keen interest shown in our technologies, processes and future plans. The open exchange afterwards rounded off the visit in an appreciative manner.

Who we are

Since 1872, Leonhard Lang has stood for quality and innovation - Made in Austria. Having grown out of a paper shop in Innsbruck, we have been concentrating on the development and manufacture of medical electrodes since 1983 and are now a world leader in this field.

Our product range includes ECG, defibrillation and neutral electrodes, electrosurgical accessories, ultrasound gel and stimulation systems. A decisive factor for the quality of our electrodes is the composition of the gels. Thanks to our in-house development of these functional gels, we can adapt their properties specifically to the requirements of the different electrodes - a clear competitive advantage that guarantees maximum performance. Thanks to our in-house special machine construction, we develop and manufacture the majority of our production systems ourselves - exactly according to our requirements. This means we remain independent of external specifications and can design our processes efficiently and precisely.

Today, we employ around 400 people - around 60% of whom are women - and supply our products to over 73 countries worldwide. Our entire value chain - from research and development to production - takes place at our company headquarters in Innsbruck. This close integration enables efficient processes, rapid communication and a family-like corporate culture with a lively "you culture".‍

Sustainability and expansion

As an international company, we bear responsibility - not only towards our customers and employees, but also towards the environment.

We therefore rely on:

  • Photovoltaic systems with an area of over 2,500 m², which generate around 1 million kWh of renewable energy per year
  • E-bike charging stations and bicycle parking spaces for our employees
  • Groundwater heat pumps and energy-efficient building technology

Our Plant 2 in Rossau was expanded by around 130% of the existing area . The result:

  • around 4,050 m² of new production space
  • a modern high-bay warehouse with approx. 3,000 m²
  • additional 1,400 m² office space

Here too, the focus is on energy efficiency - for example through concrete core activation and a PV system with roof and façade integration (output approx. 538 kWp).

A successful visit

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest and the open dialog. Such conversations and encounters are valuable to us - they provide space for reflection, inspiration and mutual understanding.

As a family-run Tyrolean company with over 150 years of history and a clear focus on the future, we look forward to continuing on our path: With innovative strength, quality awareness and the aspiration to bring medical technology "Made in Austria" to the world at the highest level.
